Questions people ask

How does Nestlyzer decide where I should live?

You pick who is moving, for example a young family or a retired couple. Each profile weights categories such as costs, safety, family, jobs, mobility and environment. Nestlyzer scores every municipality in the country you choose and ranks them. Every weight and source is listed on the methodology page.

Which countries are covered?

45 countries: 35 in Europe, plus the United States, Canada, Japan, South Korea, Taiwan, Hong Kong, Singapore, Australia, New Zealand and Israel, with 128,466 places in all. Switzerland has the deepest data (28 official factors including municipal tax burden). Austria adds age structure. The other European countries use population, density and growth plus geographic measures such as airport and big-city distance; outside Europe the places, their population and local names come from GeoNames, with the same geographic measures.

Is it free and do I need an account?

It is free and there is no account. Your shortlist and custom profile stay in your browser.

Can I build my own profile?

Yes. Answer a few short questions about household, budget, daily anchor, mobility, tax sensitivity, climate, language and target countries, then fine-tune the weights. Nestlyzer shows which standard profiles are closest to yours.

Is this financial, tax or legal advice?

No. Nestlyzer is a decision aid built on public statistics. Check taxes, permits, schools, healthcare and housing with the responsible authority or a qualified adviser.

Where does the data come from?

Eurostat GISCO LAU, the Swiss Federal Statistical Office, the Swiss Federal Tax Administration, Statistics Austria, EDJNet population-weighted centres, OurAirports and Natural Earth. Photos and descriptions come from Wikimedia projects and never affect scores.
